DIOCESE OF CORPUS CHRISTI UPDATE 3-20-2020

MASS & PRAYER
*Churches are to remain open for individual and private prayer observing their normal hours, as discerned by the Pastors/Administrators. Those coming to pray in Churches are asked to continue appropriate sanitizing, social distancing of six feet, and avoid gatherings of more than 10 people.

*Pastors/Administrators, to the extent they are able , are to inform parishioners of the opportunity to view Masses either through network television or other live stream options over the internet. http://goccn.org/corpus-christi-cathedral-tv-mass-ministry-live-video-stream/

*Sunday is still the Lord's Day. Families should gather to pray, read scripture, recite the Rosary and reflect together on their faith.

RECONCILIATION/CONFESSION
*All regularly scheduled times for Confessions are suspended.

*Only by appointment can the Sacrament of Penance be celebrated.

*Confessions can be heard in an open space in the Church or parish office; but not in a confessional.

*ALL Penance Services are cancelled.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK
*Regularly scheduled homebound/nursing home visits and distribution of Communion to the sick are suspended.

*The administering of Viaticum for the dying is reserved to Priests only and only in the case of emergency.

BAPTISM OF INFANTS
*The celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism is to be postponed, unless there is a danger of death.

WEDDINGS
*Weddings can be celebrated only in the form of the "Rite of Matrimony outside of Mass" with no more than ten people in attendance, including the minister(s).

FUNERALS
*Funerals can be celebrated only in the form of "The Rite of Committal with Final Commendation"; (also known as the "graveside service") or the "Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass" with no more than ten people in attendance, including ministers.

*ALL funerals are to be celebrated at the funeral home and/or the cemetery.

*A memorial Mass can be scheduled for a later date when the celebration of public Mass is permitted.

HOLY WEEK
*ALL Holy Week Liturgies and activities are to have the status of "pending".

*Particular directives will be given for Holy Week as they are made available.
